Organic Agriculture Inputs
Introduction of organic agriculture in India has enabled Morarka Organic to invest in the technology development for inputs. Every effort has been made to evolve processes and methodologies for on farm production of inputs, by the organic farmers, so that the cost of production could be reduced, but in some cases, it has not been possible for the farmers to produce all the inputs at the farm itself. While the basic vermiculture process has enabled farmers to mange the fertility management issues, there has been many complex situations, where the demand has been made to supply some inputs confirming the organic standards
With the ever increasing understanding of basic sciences many innovative solutions have been developed. Most of these have been based on biotechnology applications. Many indigenous practices have been evaluated to decipher the basic scientific principles behind them, and through most modern laboratory based testing processes the new solutions have been evolved. These inputs have been broadly divided in to following range of products and solutions.
Fertility Management:
Morarka Organic has over the years developed three basic solutions. One of the most difficult situations faced by organic farmers has been the need to sometimes bridge the deficiency of nutrients, while the crop is in the field, also many farmers would not have the necessary facilities to set up vermiculture unit.
- NS- DL: For any farmer having to convert very large quantities of biomass into compost this composting culture works like a miracle. It can convert animal waste & difficult to compost bio mass in to very high quality manures in just few days.
- Customized solutions are also offered for meeting needs of nutrient management in saline and alkaline situations.
- FS Power: This is an excellent input for the initial stages of organic crop production, also popular as a tonic for germination & Branching.
- FS Super: This input is very good for inducing the flowering and to increase the fruit bearing in the plant.
Pest Management:
Once farmers under organic management have been able to provide for appropriate nutrients, the incidence of pests as it is reduces to miniscule levels. Also traditional varieties and suitable areas of cultivation also significantly reduce the risk of pests. Still it has been observed that in many places some unexplained incidences of pests have happened. On any such occasion, there is a tendency to look for chemical solutions, and to prevent farmers from adopting any toxic chemical use, Morarka Organic has developed a new approach to pest management, popularly known as Probiotics. In this approach instead of targeting to kill all the pests, solutions are applied to repeal the pests and or to alter the balance between the beneficial & harm full insects, so that the crops are not damaged. Most of these Probiotic Solutions are entirely herb- plant extracts based, also known as botanicals.
- Pratirodh: It is a very safe economical & convenient solution for all types of sucking pests, mites, white flies etc. It can be also applied as a preventive measure.
- Terminator: It has been specifically developed for seed treatment, and to control many soil born diseases like root rot, collar rot, fungus, nematodes etc.
Sanitizers & Preservatives:
This is another major area of intervention for Morarka Organic. With its entry into food processing & value addition, the demands were placed for the replacement of many chemicals generally used under conventional processes. As per organic standards, most of these chemicals are not permitted to be used for processing of organic products.
While we were facing the challenges to find solutions for problems at the farm level, we also came across many materials which could be used as natural preservatives & sanitizers. A complete range has been developed for food grade & non toxic inputs have been developed by now.
